My passion for Italy’s food, countryside, culture and history
arose during a family holiday over a decade ago. With three young children in the car, Philip and I drove over much of Italy, staying in gorgeous farm houses and modest hotels, pulling up wherever we felt like it, buying and tasting the local foods and introducing our children to Italy’s unique lifestyle. It’s a love affair that is still going on!

My tours offer a comprehensive insight into Italy,
and whilst we focus on the food of the region we are in, at the same time we are investigating marvellous hill top villages, learning about village life and culture, understanding what “Italian lifestyle” really means, learning about splendid renaissance art and architecture, delving into the layers of history, ancient and more recent, and finding glorious out of the way corners of a country truly blessed with everything the traveller seeks.

All this whilst we sip and sup our way across the country, savouring
a truly magnificent cuisine in every region, sometimes at a family trattoria, sometimes as a splendid restaurant, but just as delicious, shopping for local ingredients and picnicking on the hotel terrace or in the vineyard!

Italian Hosts:

All this is made possible because of my close friendship with our Italian tour hosts, Luigi and Isabella Dusi, who live permanently in Tuscany. Isabella and I spend hours, weeks, months, planning each itinerary to make sure your experience is nothing short of fantastic. Judging from glowing testimonials, and the number of guests who have completed all three of our itineraries, we have combined the best visits, events and experiences to truly give you the holiday of a lifetime.

Isabella
is the author of two books set in Italy, both available in New Zealand. There is a link to her web site below. Isabella’s ability to transport you to another time and dimension, to recount one of Italy’s historic events or battles, and to help you really understand what it is like to live in Italy, the way Italians do, is a truly unimagined advantage on tour - you could never find a more passionate or informed guide.

Luigi
is an expert on the nectar of Italy – his knowledge of Italian wines and producers is a huge advantage and a learning experience every time we sit down to a meal. Luigi is also something of a connoisseur of Grappa, that Italian digestive which is often misunderstood – he can’t wait to introduce you to the finesse of a fine Grappa!

I provide you with notes about the food of the region
we are visiting, suggesting dishes you might find on a menu and introducing you to Italian products which you may have used, but never fully understood, and to a host of new products and ideas of how to use them. We really do travel the Strada del Gusto – the road of good taste!

I look forward to you joining me on one of my tours soon.
You can telephone, email or fax me anytime for more information – and don’t forget to click on the tours to be able to read the full itinerararies.
